How the Daily Challenge works

A new Daily Challenge goes live at midnight UTC. It is five rounds, drawn from a curated library of over 450 real historical events, one from each of five different eras — and it is the same five rounds for everyone who plays that day. You get one scored run: no second tries, and no account is needed to start. Finish it and you can share a spoiler-free emoji grid of how you did, and a streak builds for every consecutive day you complete.

How scoring works

Every round is scored on two axes and pays up to 10,000 points: 6,000 for how close your pin lands to the true location, and 4,000 for how close you land in time. On the Daily the time answer is a band rather than an exact year, so picking the right stretch of history matters more than nailing the digit. Answering quickly adds a small speed bonus on top. The Daily itself is not ranked — it is one fixed puzzle a day, so a leaderboard over it would reward looking answers up rather than knowing them. What your Daily builds is your streak, your era mastery and your lifetime score; the leaderboard ranks endless region and era runs, where the events are drawn fresh every time.

Why it is worth playing

Read the clue, place the event on the map, then pick the best time band. Each reveal gives the answer and a short historical takeaway. Because everyone gets the same five rounds, comparing scores actually means something.
